The Smarter Classmate: first corporate contribution (Indiegogo update repost)
July 3, 2015
Here comes the good news! I’ve mentioned in my earlier updates that I’m in discussions with few companies to join the “smarter classmate”. Well, here is the first one! TBWA\Vilnius is joining my adventure with $7,500 contribution! I’ll be sharing what projects we come up with together along my next 2-year journey.
TBWA\Vilnius is a creative agency based in Lithuania, famous for its ambitious projects that definitely have a long lasting benefit for Lithuania. Some of the projects to mention (and which definitely every Lithuanian has heard of) are: “Millennium Odyssey”, where in 2009 in honor of Lithuania’s Millennium Anniversary a group of Lithuanians started their trip around the world with yacht Ambersail. During 9 months of their adventure, group visited 20 countries in 5 continents and 26 Global Lithuanian communities along the way. Another project is Lithuanian National Anthem singing around the world, when on July 6th at 9pm all Lithuanians (in Lithuania and abroad) sing National Anthem to celebrate the Statehood day. The next edition is coming in just 3 days. “LitSat-1 -- first Lithuanian satellite”, there’s whole lot of information about it here, also “Dribble for Lithuania”, where in 2011 when Lithuania was hosting Eurobasket, entire nation was dribbling 8 weeks without any pause and finally the ball was passed onto Lithuanian National Basketball team.
I’ve also had a chance to work with TBWA\Vilnius team during both Forum One projects and can assure that they have this immense passion for adventures ALL THE TIME. That’s why I believe they are a super right fit for the “smarter class”.
Let’s look at the updated cost breakdown: Overall goal: $40,000 $5,000 increased scholarship from NYU (to cover tuition only) $10,484 Indiegogo contributions (minus Indiegogo and PayPal fees) $7,500 TBWA\Vilnius contribution Total: $22,984.
With the sum of $17,984 I can already cover: $8,597 for tuition fee per semester (total cost per semester is $26,097 and $17,500 is covered by NYU scholarship) -- I need to pay it by the end of August. $2,472 for various university related fees $700 ticket to NYC $1,070 for books and supplies $3,236 medical insurance $1,008 NYC transportation cost
And I am still missing: $17,016 and with these I will cover: $8,597 rest of the tuition fee for the second semester $4,500 miscellaneous $3,919 part of the living expenses ($20,000 I am covering from my personal savings/projects)
I am happy and grateful beyond words! And I still have a bit more than 4 days to go!
